ICPC 2010: selected teams from SVNIT






Here is a good news for SVNITians(one week old news!). It is SVNIT is one of the 7 colleges (out of the 95 colleges selected) from which 3 teams have been selected for the "onsite" round in the ICPC contest 2010. They are participating under guidance of Kevin Patel Sir, who is also a successful participator of ICPC 2009 onsite contest.

Pride of SVNIT: PARAM !





Guys, after so many days, SVNITians have a reason to say cheers! You know why?

Team "PARAM" of Sardar Vallabhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat won the first ever 'Smart Car Race 2010' conducted by Freescale Semiconductor India in collaboration with the Center for Electronic Design and Technology (CEDT) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) .

 In all, 90 teams from 22 renowned colleges and about 290 engineering students participated in the two-day event. During the competition, students assembled an intelligent model racing car that automatically recognized the specially designed racing track at the final competition venue. 

 Team Members were from Electronics Department, final Year.

Yaksha Manjusha, Sept 18th(SAT) Staff Club 5:30pm




                “Yaksha Manjusha”, a group of artistes from Mangalore, will perform Yakshagana, a unique theatre form of coastal Karnataka in SVNIT on Sept 18th. Student Council of SVNIT Surat and Bank Of Maharashtra are jointly organizing this show.
              Yakshagana is a traditional theater form combining dance, music, actor-created dialogues, costume-makeup, and stage technique with a distinct style. It is closely connected with other forms prevailing in other parts of Karnataka, and its neighboring states of AP, Kerala, TN, and Maharashtra.
          Yakshamanjusha troupe has performed Yakshagana at various prestigious places like the Central Sangeeth Nataka Academy of New Delhi, CCRT, JNU, IGNCA, EZCC, SpicMacay, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bharatiya Bhasha Parishath and many more. It has performed in festivals like Hampi Utsav and Mahanadavali Dharmasthala, and has already staged more than 100 shows in Hindi and became the first ever organisation to present Yakshagana both in Kannada & Hindi.

A Talk by Lt.Gen.(Dr.) Sundaram, Prod Seminar Hall, 6th Aug 11.30am






My dear friends,
    There will be an hour of interactive talk by Lt. Gen.(Dr.) V J Sundaram for final year 
B. Tech and M. Tech Students.
addressing the audience @(NSGDSC-2009, Mumbai).
       Lt. Gen. (Dr.) V. J. Sundaram(Retd.), 
considered to be one of the pioneers of
MAVs in the country.
He is presently Advisor (Micro and Nano 
Systems) at National Design and Research
Forum, The Institution of Engineers, 
Bangalore.
He was the Director of DRDL, 
Hyderabad, Proj. Director - Prithvi Missile;
Advisor - Light Combat Aircraft,
Formerly Consultant, ADA, Bangalore......
the list is never ending.
     
His current activities are Micro Air 
Vehicles, Micro-Nano-Bio Systems as well as 
the interfacing of biology and engineering.
He is the recipient of :National Aeronautics
Prize, Aeronautical Society of India – 1988,
Aryabhata Award, Astronautical Society of 
India –1998 & Instrument Society of India
Award - 2002. He received the Lifetime
Achievement Award of DRDO in 2005 from
Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India.
Still active, he has been the Mission 
Director for more than 35 Prithvi Flights including the
Dhanush Mission for the Navy on 30 March 2007.
He was also the Mission Director of the Prithvi Targets for the exoatmospheric and 
endoatmospheric Ballistic Missile interceptor missions in November 2006 and 
December 2007 respectively.
In Dr. Kalams’ words,(from wings of fire, pg no.122)
   Even at 75 years, he is probably the stimulant for most of the national programs for MAVs.
I think it’s a lifetime opportunity to meet such a person! What do you say?
